Budget 2024 Recap: Fairness for Every Generation
Budget 2024 is here, and it’s all about fairness—ensuring every generation has the chance to thrive. Chrystia Freeland and our Liberal team have crafted a plan that tackles the big issues: housing, affordability, and economic growth.
Expanding Affordable Housing
We’re taking bold steps to make housing more affordable and accessible. Through the Canada Builds initiative, we’re partnering with provinces and territories to ramp up the supply of rental housing. Key measures include removing the GST from new rental housing and prioritizing the construction of more student housing. These actions will help more Canadians find a place to call home, whether they’re renting or studying.
Lowering the Cost of Living
From expanding $10-a-day child care to launching a National School Food Program, we’re making life more affordable for families. Plus, we’re cracking down on junk fees and capping banking fees to help Canadians keep more money in their pockets.
A Stronger Economy for Everyone
We’re asking the ultra-wealthy to contribute more so we can invest in affordable housing, public health care, and support for small businesses. We’re also boosting Canada’s digital economy, supporting Indigenous communities, and providing critical mental health resources for young Canadians.
A Clear Choice
While Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives want to cut support for families and the middle class, we’re focused on building a fairer, stronger Canada. Budget 2024 is a bold step toward a future where everyone has a fair shot at success.
