Our Progress Since 2015

Since 2015, we’ve been working tirelessly to build a better Canada—one that invests in the middle class, grows an economy that works for everyone, and protects our environment. Here's a snapshot of the progress we've made together:

Supporting Families

  • Canada Child Benefit: Introduced a new benefit that provides more money to families who need it most, lifting nearly 435,000 kids out of poverty.

  • $10-a-Day Child Care: Made affordable child care a reality across Canada, creating hundreds of thousands of new high-quality spaces.

Strengthening Public Safety

  • Gun Control: Banned 1,500 models of assault-style weapons and introduced the strongest measures to combat gun violence in our country's history.

  • We've implemented harsher penalties for auto theft and equipped CBSA agents with advanced technology, such as vehicle scanners, to enhance their ability to detect and prevent stolen vehicles from leaving the country.

Building a Greener Economy

  • Zero-Emission Vehicles: Made electric vehicles more affordable through rebates and expanded charging stations nationwide.

  • Fighting Climate Change: Put a price on pollution and invested in clean energy solutions to secure a sustainable future.

Supporting Seniors

  • Old Age Security: Restored the age of eligibility for Old Age Security and the Guaranteed Income Supplement to 65, after it was raised to 67 by the previous government.

Investing in Housing

  • Affordable Housing: Built new homes, cracked down on speculation, and banned foreign investment to make housing more accessible for Canadians.

Boosting the Economy

  • Small Business Support: Lowered the small business tax rate from 11% to 9%, making it easier for Canadians to start and grow their businesses.

  • Middle-Class Tax Cuts: Lowered income taxes for the middle class while raising them for the wealthiest 1%.

Building a Healthier Canada

  • Public Health Care: Continued to strengthen our public health care system, reducing backlogs, and ensuring Canadians have access to dental care and opioid crisis support.

  • Pharmacare: Took the first steps toward a National Pharmacare system to reduce prescription drug costs for Canadians.

We've made incredible progress, but there's still more to do. We remain committed to building a stronger, healthier, and fairer Canada—one that works for everyone.
